There are many sources proving that Hamas uses civilians places as part of their military strategy. You cannot discount them simply because Israel reports it. That is a lazy way of trying to pretend away what is right in front of you.
According to international law, this means they lose their protected status because they are no longer solely civilian structures, they are now military structures. This justifies them as military targets under international law.
Targeting these military hidings structures is not a war crime, but hiding behind them and using them as part of your military purpose is in fact a violation of international law. So in these cases, Hamas is actually the one commuting war crimes and violating international law (not all that surprising).
As for your last part as this, about civilians dying in war; you must look at war realistically and not as a fantasy. Holding Israel to an impossible standard of no, or little, civilians deaths is problematic. Please name any other major urban battle or war where there was not high civilian casualties. Name it, and if you can’t, perhaps you have a wildly unrealistic expectation of how war is conducted. Find Israel the magic wand that only kills terrorists who wear no uniform (another violation of international law).
