What Part of America Do You Love?

When someone on the Left says, “I love this country” (which happens, but is rare) the only reply I can think of is “which part?”

You hate the New World discovery by Columbus and mislabel him as genocidal rapist, so you don’t love that part.

You hate the founders and think they are evil white supremacists, so you don’t love that part.

You think the Declaration of Independence is sexist and was written to preserve slavery, and that the Constitution is outdated and unnecessary, so you don’t love that part.

You hate the Bill of Rights and turn it into a Bill of Needs when discussing the 2nd Amendment, not to mention that anything you subjectively consider hate speech does not fall under the first amendment protection. Or that religion needs to stay out of politics where it’s actually that politics needs to stay out of religion — so you don’t love that part.

You hate its electoral process, and propose abolishing the electoral college, which protects the voice of the minority — so you don’t love that part.

You hate its history which is obviously filled with nuance and complexities, good and evil, and trial and triumph. When president Trump announced his slogan as “make American great again” you replied with “America was never great” — so you don’t love that part.

You hate its economic system, which has provided more opportunity for wealth advancement than any other country in any other time. Instead, you support socialistic ideas which have led to mass equality, unfortunately everyone is equally dead in masses — so you don’t love that part.

You hate it’s National Anthem and called it racist because someone told you too. Face it, you don’t know how many verses there are (there are 4), you can’t repeat one line or phrase from any of the last three verses (besides maybe the part about hireling and slave), you remove all historical context of both the battle and the English language, and without any real evidence, insert your belief that “clearly Mr. Key praised the death of black Americans” — so you don’t love that part.

You hate its current state, and its current leaders, calling for a total fundamental transformation. I can’t remember the last time a relationship worked out between humans where one person said to their partner “I love you, you need to fundamentally change” — So you don’t love that part.

So which part do you love again? From your own mouth you hate its discovery, founding, documents, system, ideals, history, and present. You never thought it was great and you think it needs fundamental change.

It’s possible that your perception is correct, but tell me again which part of this country you love?

There is only one answer of which I can think. You love the potential future of this country. A country of equality.

I ask how we get there, will it be through personal responsibility, liberty, group effort, moral bonds to our neighbor and something greater than ourselves?

You say the path is through government coercion, only by canceling and shaming those who are not with us, changing language to mean what we want, stripping freedom to ensure level outcome, burning cities because justice, and saying “diversity and inclusion”.

Sorry, that’s not going to work and I’m not going to compromise with that stance.
